I was born in Japan, raised in Canada and the USA, studied Humanities at Sophia University in Tokyo and Photography in Media Arts at the University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe. I have experienced different living environments throughout my life and been confronted with the differences between the Japanese background and the western environment (European and American). These experiences feed to my perception and interests in my artistic practices.
The act of searching is the central element of my artistic practice. I use visual media as the means of expression and consider forms in my everyday life that relate to history, social existence and trends of our time as subject. Some circumstances appear to me with certain strangeness or uniqueness, and those situations and moments are captured as photographic images with respect. I approach my works in a methodical manner, but also approach intuitively that are characterised by aesthetic decisions.
